Alex Cartwright

Alexander C. Cartwright, Ph.D. is Founder and Principal of HotelSHIFT. Alex oversees all HotelSHIFT’s portfolio and directs the firm’s strategy. Alex has been involved in real-estate investment for over a decade and has worked with multifamily, hotel and mobile home park investment funds. Alex has worked as a consultant with one of the biggest mobile homeowners in the country & is a partner on Voyage Capital’s limited-service hotel fund.
Alex also serves as Chief Economist of GreatX– a global income platform that uses tokenization to unlock unique real-estate investment structures.
Previously, Alex was the Chair of the Management Department in the College of Business at Ferris State University. He teaches as Associate Professor of Economics in the College of Business at Ferris State University. His Economics research has been published several scholarly outlets, including The Cambridge Journal of Economics. Alex is an affiliated scholar with multiple Think-Tanks and has served as an Economic advisor to congressional candidates in Peru. Alex received a B.S. in Mathematical Economics from Hampden-Sydney College where he graduated Phi-Beta-Kappa, Summa Cum Laude and first in his major. He earned an M.A. and PhD in Economics from George Mason University where he was the F.A. Hayek Fellow in the program for advanced study of Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at George Mason University’s Mercatus Center.
